This work reimagines the familiar experience of unboxing a vinyl record. Recreated entirely by hand, its cover, sleeve, label, stickers and barcode replicate the details of a newly purchased record. The vinyl record itself is recycled.
The expected reveal is disrupted. Instead of music, the viewer encounters a mirrored acrylic surface mounted onto the recycled vinyl record, reflecting their own image.
Across the mirror, the iconic MF DOOM doodle mask is sprayed onto the surface, creating a frosted, worn appearance reminiscent of condensation, water and steam on a bathroom mirror.
